diagnostic health solutions

Diagnostic Health Solutions

I attended a briefing from Diagnostic Health Solutions a company that

West North West Homes Leeds wants to use as part of its sickness

absence management.

The union reps present are very suspicious. A statement on DHS website

states workers are less likely to take unnecessary sick if they have

to contact a medically qualified person. This appears to shift the

emphasis from believing staff are sick when they report in to they are

not really sick and will not report sick if hey have to answer

questions.

Management claim that it will help reduce sickness absence, provide

more detailed information on reasons for absence and provide support

for staff.

We think that can all be done by better analysis of reasons for

sickness, training for managers and NHS Direct.

We have asked for more information from the employer and DHS, we will

be contacting organisation's they already provide services to.

A fundamental issue is, it is apparent that the employer has already

made the decision to employ this company before full and meaningful

consultation.

The truth is that if this goes ahead, this is a form of privatisation
