Diagnostic Testing
The following letter will be sent out on Thursday or Friday regarding
the diagnostic testing that was done for students who were new to RMAE
(this has nothing to do with CSAP):
August 29, 2007
Dear Incoming RMAE Families:
It has come to my attention that the diagnostic testing that many of
your children took in April and May of this year was administered
incorrectly. I have researched the issue, and have found two areas
that were in error:
* Some of the students were given a test that should have been for
the next grade level; for instance, an entering sixth grade
student may have been given a test that should have been for an
entering seventh grade student.
* Some of the students may have had additional testing materials, so
your child may have not been able to complete the test in the
allotted amount of time.
No matter the reason, it became apparent that the test results for
some of the students did not hold credibility. Therefore, instead of
second guessing which test was administered to each student, I decided
that we could not use the test results.
Coming on board with RMAE in July, I was aware of this issue, but did
not realize at that time all of the work that had been put into the
diagnostic testing process. I apologize that you are just now
receiving the information that the diagnostic testing results were
invalid. The mistakes that were made with the diagnostic testing are
not reflective of the high standards of professionalism to which I
hold my staff and myself.
Having said that, I thank you all for entrusting your children to us,
and I look forward to partnering with each of you as we continue to
educate your children. If you have any questions about this or other
issues, please feel free to contact me at the school.
Sincerely,
